As an emmigrant from South Africa, Exile, for me, is both a state of mind and a permanent position of geographical isolation as violent crime prevents my return to my homeland.
My personal struggle with relocation and severance engages memories of home referencing landscape in a metaphorical way.
This body of work is suspended as if floating in time and space itself. These paintings are all 5 x 4ft (153 x 122cm) to allow for an uninterrupted engagement.
